6 laser hair removal myths, busted by a specialist
Does it hurt? Can you do it in summer? Is it bad for your skin? Honest answers to the most common myths about laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal has become increasingly popular — and with it, plenty of conflicting information. We've gathered the questions we hear most often in the treatment room and answered them one by one.
Myth 1: "Laser hair removal really hurts"
The sensation varies from person to person and area to area, but most clients describe it as a slight snap or a feeling of warmth. Modern cooling systems and individually adjusted settings make it far more comfortable than waxing.
Myth 2: "One session is enough"
Hair grows in cycles, and the laser works effectively only on hairs in the active phase. That's why you need a protocol of several sessions, at regular intervals, for long-lasting results.
Myth 3: "You can't do it in summer"
You can, with a few rules: no direct sun on treated areas, no fresh tan and consistent SPF 50. Still, autumn and winter are the ideal times to start — so summer finds you with smooth skin already.
Myth 4: "Laser is dangerous for your skin"
Performed correctly by a trained specialist, with a prior skin-type assessment and a patch test, the treatment is safe. What matters most is the consultation, the right settings and following the before and aftercare advice.
Myth 5: "It works on any hair colour"
The laser "sees" the pigment in the hair. Dark hair responds best, while very light, white or red hair responds less. At your consultation, we'll tell you honestly what results to expect.
Myth 6: "It's only for women"
Not at all! More and more men choose laser hair removal for the back, chest or beard contour — for comfort, hygiene and a well-groomed look.
